Iceni
M le Ramoneur arrived this morning. I rang him about 6 weeks ago and he said "August" so he's pretty well on time. Our stock of wood down in the sous-sol fills the allotted space, we have another 3 m3 ready to move from neighbour's garden so we're all set.But somehow these thoughts of winter do not seem right when the temp is around 30, the peaches & figs are ready for picking and after a bit of rain last Sunday the haricots have gone mad. Is it just me or is it only the proverbial 5 minutes since the daily chore of fetching and carrying firewood last winter ? BJSLIV
Forget Ramoneurs, or changes to the weather, Star Ac is back so it must be nearly winter.
SaligoBay
My Monsieur Ramoneur is very talkative.During this year's ramonage (ooh err missus), I got treated to......- je vous jure, people in the south here are like snakes, don't you think? Can't trust them as far as you can throw them, super-friendly at first, but as soon as they realise there's no profit to be made from you, they're off.- you work for XXXX?????? Ouf, vous avez du courage!! What I want to know is where are the families, eh? All those old people in Paris, they didn't die of the heatwave, they died of loneliness, their families just didn't care. And you do all that for the SMIC? What a disgrace that is!And so on. It was like a cross between Mr Angry and the Private Eye London taxi driver. I'm looking forward to next year's visit already! Thank you all for reminding me to order logs today.
