bixy
There's a great deal on the forum about buying but I have a friend who wants to sell and avoid, what he considers, exorbitant estate agent fees. Is it possible to do this - presumably only a notaire is absolutely essential? Where would be a good place for him to advertise. Any advice much appreciated.Patrick
Alan
The seller does not pay a penny in selling , apart from any capital gains tax that has to be paid . The buyer pays all costs. There are a number of free sites that you can list houses for sale, think some have been mentioned on here and also the TF forum

BJSLIV
The seller does not pay a penny in selling Technically of course that is correct, but in reality if a potential buyer sees a house "FAI" at €100000 they don't care what the fees are they just see the inclusive price. So if the vendor can successfully market the property themselves the buyer would hopefully pay the full €100000. If it really worked out like that then it would certainly seem to the vendor that he/she had avoided paying the agent their €5000.
