SaligoBay
Everyone back to school today at 8.30am. Everyone home again by midday! Storm storm storm, torrestial rain and flash floods, orange alert raised to red alert till midday tomorrow, how scary. Even Mr SB and his colleagues were sent home this aftie, everyone is to be home by 5, because it's all going to start again. So they say and it does sound like the thunder (which hasn't stopped all day) is getting closer again. School is closed tomorrow too.Off to batten down the hatches! Guess summer's over. Val_2
Blimey SB you have no water then you are deluged, talk about getting it from both ends this year. Lovely and warm and sunny up here in 29,no rain forecast but could do with some during the nights for the gardens. No water shortages either this year. At least any fires you get down there now won't spread far with all the rain.
SaligoBay
Back down to orange again. We've definitely had worse, but I think the powers-that-be are a bit twitchy now, and their main aim is to avoid the human fatalities that have happened in the last few years, which is why the red alert was announced. No fatalities this time, just lots of disruption, with flights, trams, and trains cancelled, motorways flooded and closed, campsites evacuated, and general ramassage scolaire the order of the day.The chaos involved in clearing the collège of 800 children did make me think yet again about the horror for those involved in the big disasters elsewhere. Not nice. Stay safe, y'all!
letrangere
Saw a picture in our local paper yesterday of two men struggling through water almost shoulder deep in Nimes (30) and suddenly remembered it was september... M
opas
We didn`t see much rain at all, just the necessary amount to give the gardens a decent drink.....but boy have we had some in the early hours of this morning, which probably didn`t amount to much anyway as the weather forcast doesn`t even put us in the Orange zone....but as we are in a valley a lot of mud/shingle etc has washed down the village. Our next door neighbour who is Belgian was to go back there on the TGV yesterday and went to the gare at perpignan only to return to the village because the trains are cancelled untill tomorrow.Beautiful sunny sky now ,so will go and visit my newly planted veggies later and see if they have sunk or swam!Mrs O
Val_2
Looking at Meteo France map of the whole country today,Saturday is looking like a day of thunder and lightening for the whole country with rain following on behind. We are still very dry and sunny up in the far north west corner.
