The following is a copy of a message I sent to 50 Americans on my mailing list. This person wishes to remain anonymous but I will tell you that they are a regular participant in these Anglo-French forums. I wanted to publicly thank this person and all the others who are reading this who have come to our aid in a time of need. 'Thank you' isn't good enough but there just aren't the proper words to express our gratitude.

**"Amid all the hate-mongering and finger-pointing, both foreign and domestic, I thought I would share this message I received from a member of one of the Anglo-French forums I am on. (Person's name) sent it as a private message for 'my eyes only' and not general viewing of the forum. In the past, (this person) and I have 'crossed swords' more than once on different issues but never to the point of name-calling. In any discussion/debate, I have always agreed with the thought that one who does has lost and that it is an admission of intellectual defeat unless it is done in good-natured humor. Here is what (this person) sent to me:

"Hello Ray

I hope you don't mind me sending you a pm. I just wanted you to know of my very deep sorrow at the events that have transpired in your home country.

I also wanted to let you know that I have been working on the internet trying to help provide support in the form of information about missing/survivor lists, damage to areas, coordinating offers of help with people in need, in fact anything that thousands of confused, frightened and heartbroken people need to know and are too traumatised to find out for themselves as they usually would be able to.

I donated some money with a group of friends, none of us is religious really but it got sent to a small church in one of the areas taking evacuees. We felt better about sending it a small scale 'agency'.

I have been doing this for about 16 hours a day for the last 6 days. I tell you this in the hope that it is some comfort to you to know that I and plenty of other non-Americans care very much. I have the free time, and a computer. There is little more that I can do but I hope I have been, and will continue to be some small help.

I sincerely hope none of your friends or family have been badly affected by this;

Regards

(Person's name)

In my opinion, we MAY INDEED take comfort in knowing that there are many, many, many (Person's name)'s here in Europe.

Thought you'd like to meet THIS one.

T & R"**
