Russethouse
Not sure which section to post this in so thought I would try here !Do any of you hoteliers or B & B owners sell Calvados by the glass ? We have just had a night away at a nice-ish hotel ( AA three stars ) in Worcestershire and our after dinner Calvados was £9.50 a time !!!! To be fair there was a choice, we could have gone for the £7.50 a glass variety. Is it my imagination is that rather a lot more than 100% mark up ? Or should we get out more ? As it happens the hotel forgot to add the drinks to the bill, we didn't check it either and had a message waiting at home to contact them, OK fair enough we definitely had the Calvados so just debit my card (the one we paid with and reserved the room with).....the reply was they don't keep a record of the number, so if we hadn't turned up how would they have debited our account ? Miki
The cost of a single digestif here, including Calvados, is between 2,50€ and 3€ and a large (double) is between 4€ & 5€At something between say 11€ and say 24€ plus a bottle, depending of course on the marque and 25ml measures at our place and in the UK (but 2ml is the "normal" shot here)if prices are equivalent in the UK, then simply work out that there are 28 single shots or 14 doubles in a 70cl bottle or 40 singles or twenty doubles in a litre bottle. As you can see if they charged you £9.50 for a double (surely it was a double ?) then the bottle gave them back £133 and if it was a single, then they hit the jackpot at £266 and at that price it must have been the King of Kings of all Calva !!
