My own opinion of ff.com (assuming it has not changed) is that it is a bit of a waste of time. However, the emotions behind it are interesting and a bit more widespread than the participants there. For example, there is another French interest site run and mainly for US people with a forum (a serious site, not on the same lines as ff.com). Around the time of the US/French/UK/German/Russian issues relating to the invasion of Iraq, there were loads of posts there from US people asking how to identify French products (or products containing French components) that were available in the US so they could avoid/boycott them.

Absolutely.

And just to add my 3d worth, it was an illegal invasion based lies and convenient “mis-truths”. If the west actually cared for the Iraqi people and really wanted to improve their living conditions, lifestyle, etc. then they would have had some plans about what to do once the invasion was completed (that is to say plans other than to award massive lucrative contracts to US companies associated with prominent politicians).

Its sad but the US government recently made an appeal to the US people to help fund the rebuilding of Iraq (sort of charity thing) and it raised $600 (£337) – that is $600, no thousands, no millions, no missing zeros (http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1577750,00.html).

But they do have oil.

Yup, suppose we could. Then again, having seen how unpleasent things can get on a nice forum like this, I can't help feeling that baiting people who probably have ready access to firearms and, apparently, having read some of their output, fairly short fuses may not be the best way to spend a sunny Friday.

If everyone's so intelligent, how come the main message from this thread is Sunday-school level indignation that there are some people out there who really aren't very nice?  This is surely no surprise to anyone who has made it into adulthood!

So come on, guys, food and wine, the France of everyone's dreams.  So what's this about intensive pig-farming?  How many French people actually raise their own porkers (if you'll pardon the expression).  Probably very few out of 60 million.  

And the declining wine industry?  I read in a wine magazine yesterday that about 40% of the drinking-age French population never drink wine.  Should the govt keep bailing out unhappy vignerons because they're not selling enough wine, or should they be like the rest of us, and be left to sink or swim?

I seriously wonder just how many Americans have distanced themselves from you and your bigotted opinions ? You refuse to "discuss" as you believe forums are only about offering opinions and are yours are NOT debatable(your words of course)

You relish trying to belittle those that do wish to discuss matters with childish one liners but do not have the intelligence to realise that the people on this thread are not "baiters" as you put it at all but, of course it suits you to put them in that fictitious category, probably making you feel rather grand in your own simple way. What a wonderful forum this would be if we all took that rather bizarre line of thought !

Surely ignorance is one of life's worst ailments. To ignore people that have offered different thoughts to yours, shows nothing less than pathetic ignorance on your own part and as for making a fool of oneself, I believe your posting Twain's quote, rather reverberates on your self.
