We are actually moving to France at last

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say that we will actually be moving to a little commune near La Coquille in department 24 on 7th November and apart from the administration things can't wait to become French residents.

It is soooo exciting - but a bit scary too!

We'd planned on making the move in about three years time but MOH has been offered a job so we are on our way - can't believe it, less than four weeks - wouldn't actually have chosen wintertime but that is how things have panned out.

Any advice would be welcome.

thanks

Hi Val, hope you like living in France as much as we do, we came here almost a year ago and have loved every minute of it.

Every good wish to you and your husband,I think we have already met you at your close neighbours house, look forward to seeing you both again.

                         kind regards Gill& Geoff

Hi.Good luck with the move   As you are moving close to Xmas it might make sense to bring quite a few Christmas things- cards, mincemeat, good quality wrapping paper, golden syrup and anything else that you really enjoy- if you like packet stuffing and jars of cranberry sauce then bring that too !!Maybe a supply of stuff like Savlon cream too if that's what you use.You can get Marmite and Worcester sauce here but not easily nor cheaply.Perhaps a good supply of books ? Christmas decs used to be dire but they have  got classier this last couple of years. Once again, good luck

Yes Val load up with all the UK christmas goodies its such a long festival period over here, all of, well actually zero days

There isn't even a bank holiday this Christmas as Saturday ( edit make that Sunday) is the only day when all the shops will be closed, so it will all be over by Monday and you cannot even go to the Sales as they do not start until mid january, you sure you want to bring all that Cranberry Sauce

Shops will be open around here Ron (Saturday the 24th December) but Christmas Day (Sunday) of course shops will be closed and as it is the only official day for the holiday, we do have at least one days holiday (if you include Sunday as a work day !!). Enjoy ........
