nom de plume
I have just bought my first ever french one in the Carreblanc sale, what is the strange bit at one end that makes it look like a cowlnecked jumper? Also for double beds there were three sizes 140cm, 160cm and 180cm. Wehave a UK king size which is approx 150cm, I bought the 160cm and willsew two 'tram-lines' appox 5cm in from the sides to stop the duvet fromslipping arround. Does this mean bedlinen for a UK king size is notreadly available in France. Its not really a problem as it is quiteeasy to ajust the size by sewing. I am just curious.Diana
Christine Animal
I think the "cowl neck" bit may be what you tuck under the mattress. The different sizes are not bed sizes, but the sizes of the duvets or couettes.
Teamedup
It has been discussed on here before, but bedding is not always the same size. Single quilts and their covers are bigger than in the UK, and are the same size as german ones.Doubles are about the same size and therefore transferrable.Kings are bigger in France too.Don't know about superkings as I have never bought any. That flap is called a rabat and I hate the things. You tuck it under the mattress at the bottom of the bed. Some people like them, I do not. I bought some single quilt covers in Germany to go on my french quilts as they have no rabats and fit.
Teamedup
Sorry forgot to add that a standard double bed in France is 140, king is 160 and superking is 180. Singles are usually 90 wide and my son has a three quarter bed that is 120.
