Teamedup
Just had my bill for the full year. It still remains cheaper than we had to buy wood. And for us is blissfully convenient. We did 15 years of lighting the fire for heating and I much appreciate automatic heating. Our Abonnement for the year was 118.68 HT. and we used 1676 metered units. These units are mulitplied by 11.05 to give us kWh. Then the rate charged for the gas was 3.27cents* , also ht. The bill TTC came to €849.51. Gas prices for the year were as follows, starting at 3.03c finishing at 3.68c and the above price is the average they used*.
Georgina
I had a sales call the other day telling me that it was cheaper to use natural gas than oil and that I should change, well they would I know.By the way British Gas in England to put up prices by 22% in March (excuse if already stated) that's a heck of a hike. It would have meant a good £200 per year for us.Georgina
Teamedup
Is it cheaper than oil or not. Gets cold where we live and around £500-£600 a year for full central heating and hot water seems very reasonable to me. I must add that I do not cook with gas and never light my fire anymore. And I like to be warm. Your bills were a £1000 a year just for heating in the UK? WOW!
powerdesal
Teamedup,I assume you are on oil. Nat gas is 'supposed' to be cheapest form ofenergy. ( inverted commas in case i am wrong !!!) I only wish Ihad the choice. No gaz de ville in Chefresne so its going to be oil forme. Any chance of picking your brains by PM??Regards
Teamedup
Sorry you have confused me there. I gave the details of our natural gas bill, we have had it for a lot of years now. It was Georgina who was saying that the natural gas people had contacted them and made out they were the cheapest. Something I think I must agree with as I know of no one with oil who has cheaper heating costs than we pay in gas bills. There again I don't know of anyone in the NE of England with £1000 gas bills a year either, well friends did, but they had converted some sort of church, I mean people in houses. And sorry again, I can't help with oil heating I have never lived with it. My parents 'eventually' went onto solid fuel heating, then gas. And we had gas in the UK. Then storage heaters in France in an appt. In this house initially we had just a chiminee that heated three radiators for years and then jumped at the chance of gas when I heard it was coming to the village. I never thought our village would get it and even all these years later the whole village is still not on it. We managed to get clagged on the end of the first fixe. When I used them, they were totally incompetent administration wise too, left hand not knowing what right hand is doing etc. Still the others weren't much better, telling you it would be cheaper to move and then running up enormous bills because of underpayments the original quote being too low.Thought they all had coal fires in Newcastle anyhow[;)]Georgina
Teamedup
I am really glad that you did not have £1000 gas bills in the UK, unless you had had an old church or some such thing. [:D] Newcastle is a smashing place to visit, but it isn't chez moi en Angleterre and truth is I don't understand everything geordies say or the makems either come to think. Georgina
wy 'aye ya buga, [:)] (whatever that means in Geordie) Who could live in a church, not me, they're not meant to be lived in. I have had enough of big houses too, too much cleaning, more room to make a mess.Georgina
