debbiet
I wonder if anyone can help or advise us. On a trip to our House in the Deux Sevres region in March, we purchased a fridge. It worked fine on that visit and on the subsequent visit in June. When we visited again in July it refused to get cold! we returned to the shop and were given an after sales service number. A visit was arranged but the engineer did not have the correct part and it would not be available for 2-3 weeks when we were back in England. We arranged for them to phone our wonderful French neighbour who agreed to let them in to carry out the repair. The call never came and a letter was discovered in our mail box asking us to arrange a convenient time. This we did. The engineer arrived on our next visit 2 weeks ago, the part was fitted and we duly filled the fridge with our French "goodies" only to find them frozen solid the next morning. Isabelle to the rescue again, an engineer called on the day we were leaving, tried to tell us we didn't know how to use a fridge!! Isabelle was a star, told him in no uncertain terms that we were not happy and that he was giving us a bad impression of France. So now we are left with a fridge that cannot be repaired until we visit again in December when there will be only 3 months left of the guarantee.Does French law entitle us to a replacement? after all it has worked for only 2 weeks so far. I would be grateful for any advice
Baz
Unfortunately, consumer rights are not like the UK and different shops and even branches seem to have their own rules.
