miller
Does anyone know how to trace a builder's insurance (assurance decennale) so we can claim for repairs of poor quality work? Our builder has retired and left us with a leaking roof and has ignored repeated requests for his insurance details. He was recommended by the mayor of our commune but neither he nor the builder's mayor can (or will?) give us the information.

Take out a porter-plainte requiring him to provide his insurance details. In our area the Gendarmes are pretty helpful over such matters. If his insurance company will not cover the work, then you can take him to a Tribunal to pay for the cost of the remedial work.Regards,Bob Clarkehttp://perso.wanadoo.fr/grindoux
miller
Many thanks for the help. Looking at the "facture" the builder has quoted his bank name and four sets of numbers beginning: R.M., I.N.S.E.E., C M, and C A.Anyone know what they represent please? Many thanks Miller
