Paul King
Hello Everyone,My wife and I are currently in the process of purchasing a barn within the Charente region of France to use as a holiday home for 6 (ish) weeks of the year. Can anyone advise us on what we should do to the water, heating etc when not in the property? Should we turn the water and heating (gas) off or leave it on but very low?Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Many thanksPaul & Maureen
cooperlola
A first step is to read your insurance policies carefully. Some insist you turn off the water if you are abscent for long periods, or you will not be covered. Personally, I would certainly leave the central heating on a low temperature to prevent damp/freeze ups etc.
