Russethouse
I am staying with a friend in France and their daughter has applied for a job in the UK, in London. She doesn't know anything about the cost of living for a single girl in London or other things that it would be helpful to know, when she is asked about salary requirements for example.( and I am in the wrong age group to be knowledgable about it[:(])Does anyone have a link for a forum for French people living the UK that may help please? woolybanana
It used to be called the Agence Peggy I think and it was located somewhere on Leicester Square. Lots of help and advice for the French just arriving in London.
TWINKLE
I remember that place too wooly - the Charles Pèguy centre near the tube station on Leicester Square. I played there with my French band back in 1988. We were later invited back there for what was probably one of the first 'raves' (my first and last!). There was a gigantic parachute in the middle of the dancefloor and after you'd had a space cookie or whatever they were selling on the numerous stands you just slipped under it and smiled at people all swaying back and forth. Very wierd. I prefered getting my face painted and my astrology chart read to me[:)] Probably weird too.......[:$]Anyway.....I remember that a lot of the French people who found lodgings and jobs there ended up hanging out with French people all of the time and not learning much English.
