Frederick
It appears there is an opposite to winter SAD ....some people get depressed in the summer and to make them feel better they wrap them in a "Chiller Blanket "....then they cheer up !.......bit of a bug..r getting that one ! Chris Head
Yeah...why not Zeb! The Norwegians have a saying "There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing". I so often hear people moaning about the weather and the seasons, I believe it affects the way people think & feel more than they know? Learning how to change and adapt to the varying climates we experience in this part of the world could change the way people live their lives and perhaps even feel about themselves?Take winter...OK it's going to be dark and cold for the next few months, I wonder how many folk will just be "treading water" and waiting for the spring to arrive until they can properly venture outside again?I personally have spent all my working life outside (and a wrinkled up face at 42 to prove it!), even working in a barn it can often be colder inside than out (that reminds me, heating specialists check out renovations section please) but the bills don't wait for warm weather so life & work goes on....preparing & equipping in advance both mentally and with good clothing helps life go on. The Riff-Raff Element
Hmmm...well, the extra hour in bed didn't seem to make our baker, Bradley, any less miserable this morning. And there was I, full of the Joys Of Spring. "Wasn't it a beautiful morning? Didn't Mrs Bradley look fetching in that outfit?" "Murgh!" Sour old git. Frederick
Winter !........You cold weather lovers can have it ......after years of standing on a station platform waiting for the 0519 .....yes 0519 to London and watching the sparks off the frosted live rail from about two mikes away.... and wishing the warm carriages would get to you faster ....stuff the winter ! Mr Coeur de Lion
After spending 8 years in sunny Queensland where every day is sunshine and it gets dark every day between 5pm and 6pm, coming back to the northern hemisphere makes me really appreciate the seasons now. Change is good.R.
Deimos
This may be a daft question, but I thought Europe (incl. France) and UK changed their clocks at the same time these days. Has the UK changed back to GMT. My PC (in France) changed time automatically overnight and I had to do watches etc. by hand. However, switched on my TV with Sky (i.e. as in the UK) and the time on that was still BST (i.e. now the same as in France). Wondered if it was a slower update but no, the programs being broadcast are as per BST (i.e. the program I was watching started at 14:00 and in France it is currently 14:25).I remember there used to be a week difference between changing clocks (so Europe and UK were on teh same time for a week) but I thought that had been got rid of these days.Am I going mad, or have I missed something ?Ian
