Racerbear02
As the header says, we have just been told that there are plans toinstall a small wind farm, 6 turbines, around 1.2kms from our house. We have no problems with that per se, anything to generate electricity from a renewable source is good for us.We do not find them to be an eysore,we are assured that there will beno noise problem at that distance and we are by no means NIMBY types, we would prefer that they were a bit further away, but they havebeen placed in the best position for wind etc. so no complaints there. We are however concerned that if we should come to sell our property, others, potential buyers, may not view this wind farm in the same wayas us and we may find that our property has been devalued or is verydifficult to sell. I should state here that we are very happy here andhave no intention of moving, but you never know what is around thecorner.Does anyone have any experience of trying to apply for compensation forpotential loss of value, or perhaps reduction in taxe fonciere etc.? oris it just a case of having to live with it? Val_2
Not quite the same thing but when a lotissement was built around our border and one bungalow actually on the talus, our taxe d'habitation was reduced by over 50% immediately without us even making a fuss or notifying the fisc. You may get a small reduction but 1.2kms is quite a distance compared to a lot of properties round here that have had turbines built,in some cases,500m from the front door. If you are within 300m you can usually suffer a significant loss of your television signal and be annoyed by the mechanical turning mechanism as well as the problem of a magnetic field presence(a technical boffin would put you right on that one). The person to speak to about all this is the local maire of the commune in which the turbines are to be built as he/she is responsible for the project and the well-being of the inhabitants. We tried and failed to get some installed here but the situation on a protected coastline halted it and each time there were public debates and meetings to discuss the pros and cons of the scheme, which would have meant cheaper electricity for the commune and a great deal of rental income for the farmers whose land was to be leased to build them on.
