maude
The temperature has been in the mid sixties for the last few days-so good to feel some warmth. However I am intrigued by the local French when I see them trussed up in thick thick coats and fleeces fully zipped up,boots and hats on,not to mention the little babies puce coloured and overheating especially in supermarkets. It must be something to do with the prefectures not declaring spring yet,as they do to declare when sales can be held!!!I used to wonder why our local GP always used to say" be carefull" with regards to any breezes! Now I know that the locals do not differentiate the weather according to temperature and conditions but only on date!Hence the anorak wearers appear beginning of september.OO la la the mind boggles!Wonder what infant mortality figures are due to overheating. Just a thought ( a tongue in cheek observation) Maude
Panda
Hi MaudeI've always felt underdressed in French company and I do get looks when I do the school run in just a V necked fleece when everyone else is fully 'togged' up. I'm now into tee shirts when I can be as I'm a hot mortal and hate being too hot, this concept is alien to my neighbours who always said, aren't you cold?Panda
Frederick
Weather has been wierd on the opposite side of the planet lately as well ......a relative in Queenland has recently had 32 inches of rain in three days thats biblical ! ...they have been cut off from everybody by flood water ...Are we going to have a long hot summer this year as we have an early spring ? Clair
I'm taking it one day at a time... We've had snow in May for the last three years. The last fortnight of June a couple of years ago, our paying guests spent the first week of their holiday by the fire and the second wek sunbathing in the garden...I usually wear a sleeveless T-shirt and a light fleece and Mr Clair wears about 4 layers of clothing. Mind you, he slept under a 9 TOG duvet even during the 2004 heatwave whilst I slept in the hammock outside...
Panda
It's really weird how heat affects people differently, I hate any heating in the bedroom but my sister, who lives in Spain has an electric blanket for 6 months of the year, very odd! I would always opt to be too cold rather than too hot, she would opt for completely the opposite.
