Is this a Record?

Recommended Posts

We've just had a number of trees on our and our neighbour's property cut down (10) or pollarded (23). Quite a lot of work, 6 man days in fact.

The contractor came to look at the job on the date and (more or less!) the time he said he would, came back with his 'main man' a couple of days later to re-check, and gave me a written devis.  The job was started and completed on the days agreed: a minimum of mess and no damage.  The patron came along to check progress and quality halfway through.

It's now 5 days since completion and no invoice, nor him turning up to ask for his money (perfectly reasonable - it's a fair amount).

I'm amazed.

They certainly seem to be well organised in Normandy too, a firm contracted by the Mairie came along our lane and cut trees and hedges, they were working for two solid days and we paid them an extra 70 Euros to cut our Leylandi Hedge, which was was totally out of control. No problem at all, it was done in no time and all the "debris" removed to a gigantic fire down the road
