Clair
Years ago, someone told me I shouldn't use kids in reference to children and explain why he thought so.Why do you detest this word? (please note I did not use it again [:)])It is quite a strong statement to make about a word.
Dick Smith
Sprogs were raw recruits in the RAF, I thought.Did anyone ask any kids if they prefer to be called kids or children?I did. Guess what?
woolybananasbrother
Why ask them?
Dick Smith
Because I was fed up with being told to call them children.Oh, I see.I'm just a conciliatory, consensual, democratic, kid-friendly sort of guy.

Clair
Fair enough [:)]As a French person using a foreign language, I am well aware the inadvertent use of a word can cause unintended offence.
nounoupie
Oh Clair dont get me wrong ! woolybananasbrother
I always thought that sprog was the eggs of a frog. As in frogs' sprog, that famous Albanian drink made from frogs sprog and distilled manglewurzels! Tastes a bit like some of the concoctions my neighbours in the Vendée used to cook up in the 'caves'
cassis
I weally must beg to differ. A spwog is a cwoss between a spwat and a hog.YoursFwank Muir

Logo, I don't mind and I'm okay with Phobia (as a word) but put the two together and I even had to force myself to type it.
cassis
Come and lie down on my couch, Weedon. Tell me all about it. I'm worried for you. [blink]
Weedon
Oh ok, thanks. Hang on, do you use hypnotism then make me do strange things involving plants or animals. Cat fur makes me sneeze and I've never stuffed a ferret down my trousers ever.

Dick Smith
I would start by stuffing a ferret down someone else's trousers first, and then progressing, if I was comfortable with the results, to my own.Just a thought.
Weedon
Is there a knack (no pun intended) to this ferret business. It seems to me that rather like ski jumping, there comes a time when you just have to go for it. I'd hate to think that the ferret might get more out of it than me even though I count myself as unselfish.I have noticed that squirrels seem to prefer going down ladies tops whilst ferrets seem to be just a male thing, is this preference based on human or animal choice do you think? Dick Smith
You have raised so many issues that I don't want to think about...I think we should all go round and stuff ferrets and squirrels into Cassis' tops and trousers and record the results for YouTube. It could become a new craze.
mint
Oh, animal, obviously. Those ferrets have no savoir faire and show no sign of discrimatory taste.
