mint
It is a bit 'just the usual suspects' I assumed the good weather had arrived [8-|]
Well, weather good insofar as it has stopped raining long enough for the OH to get out on the mower. Alas, not really good enough to be dependable or be nice and warm without that hint of impending storm. I never knew it could rain so much in the Charente.I must admit the forum has been a bit "same old, same old" lately. Apart from the tax questions, not much that is attention-grabbing.I know, perhaps everyone is busy filling in their forms!
Gluestick
I thought it was the weather! After Paque (when we had a blizzard! [:'(]), week before last when Mrs G and I were in la belle, we at least managed to get the garden under way.Look at my hedges! Nice and straight and without the aid of a string!Lifting the big hedgecutter from the lawn side fair did me in, Guvernor! Not so bad from the terrace side, 'cos it's much lower!

just john
Gluestick, hedges do look well trimmed, but the lawn looks like it could do with the treatment, have you got a scarifier? maybe Fertilizer & Weed treatment too! Is that provocative enough!
Gluestick
Thank you Sweets: much appreciated. We like it and have tried to keep it as it was, originally a 200 year old torshe farmhouse, substantially rebuilt and renovated by its now elderly owner nearly 40 years ago. Our French friends love it as we are preserving part of their local memories, so they say, which is nice.John: I do agree. It was in quite good shape two years ago, however year before last I had serious surgery at the beginning of the year and wasn't able to get over until June.A friend popped in to cut the grass once so the grass really suffered still two friends helped in June but it was a mammoth effort with all the hedges, strimming, brushcutting and etc.: thus far I haven't managed to find anyone locally who I can rely on and doesn't think that all les Anglais are millionaires! This is one problem with the Nord Pas de Calais, I'm afraid. They've been spoilt by the first phalanx of brits who sold their houses for bundles and came over with pretentious concepts and loads of spending dosh!I'm also wary of allowing anyone else to use the ride-on mower, as it chews drive belts to the cutting deck if not used properly and they cost around € 35 a pop for patterns! (Kevlar).Five years ago when Mrs G and I bought the place, the garden took massive amounts of time to bring around: still lots more to do. 30 trees to lop and prune and sort out this Autumn.A friend, lost in some of the trees in Winter............

Gluestick
Thanks, Cathy.Lidyl or Aldi for washing up liquid. Works a treat and costs peanuts. Now use it in France and the UK.Even use Lidyl's dishwasher tabs and Aldi's dishwasher cleaner.Saves bundles. Just Katie
Cathy, that is all I am doing too in my spare time. Bubble shooter. I log onto the forum, type ironing into the search box and it takes me straight to Twinkles link.
