Christine Animal
They seem to be having too many children and forgetting about them, going off to work and no longer remembering they are in the car. This one had three youngsters. This little girl was not a baby, but three years old. How awful that she was not able to open the car door herself. If there had been old fashioned wind-down windows, she could have opened one.Correction. This couple only had two youngsters, I thought there were two others. When he finally came back to the car in the afternoon, he still didn't notice she was dead in it and drove off again!
5-element
You know, I hate to say this, as it is so utterly tragic for all concerned - but it seems that in all the cases I have seen recently, it is the father who "forgets" the child. Is it that women are more observant, or perhaps less preoccupied?
Clair
I think the mothers' routine probably included their children and as far as I can remember in the previous cases , as in this tragic instance, the fathers were not used to having their child in the car with them. Cat
They mentioned the "forgetful father" aspect briefly on the TF1 news at lunchtime http://videos.tf1.fr/video/news/0,,3917855,00-fillette-ans-meurt-oubliee-dans-voiture-.html
Christine Animal
Men are maybe more easily distracted, thinking about their job, etc. while the mother has that "instinct maternel".There's an ad for a car on the tele where a young father is driving along so pleased about his new vehicle that he completely forgets about his two children sitting in the back until he stops and turns round to suddenly realise that they are there. It's a bit "mauvais goût" now.

I can't think of anything worse for anyone to have to live with, it must destroy you completely. Not mentioning what it must do to the couple relationship. Frenchie
Yes, I ve heard psychiatrists on the radio also saying that a man does not have the same way to behave in some very particular circumstances. A woman is always related to a child by some invisible umbilical cord, but even if a father really loves his children, and no doubt fathers do !! they don't have this gut feeling about children. I ve experienced it myself. My son's father loves him to bits, but how many times have I told him" don't forget to collect him after school".. if very preoccupied by work, I know he could have forgotten, and he's not a monster. The psychiatrists said it could happen to anyone.. My thoughts go to these broken families..But I know some people have different points of view, I talked about it with my mum over the phone and she said " C'est IN- AD- MI- SSI - BLE !!! Tony F Dordogne
I agree with your Mum Frenchie, if you have responsibility for a child as a one-off, surely that would be uppermost in your mind, something that's different in your day and has to be taken into account and dealt with. And why did he take the child to his place of work? Looks like a car factory on the news a few minutes ago - may forget to drop the child at a child minder but unless the child was asleep, how can you 'forget' a child that's awake? Christine Animal
That's what I can't understand and a three year old. The child minder said she saw him drive straight past, he forgot all about her. If only someone in the car park had seen her.
Frenchie
The child was asleep they said.. and apparently he was late and preoccupied, not used to driving his daughter to the child minder.I'm not trying to find any excuses, just trying to understand how such a thing can be possible. mint
I'm trying not to think about the poor child. If tears could bring the child back..................[:(]
