CeeJay
Last week I posted an A4 size padded envelope containing baby clothes to go to my son in New Zealand. The lady at La Poste accepted it and processed it through the service Colissimo OM (Outre Mer). The package weighed 0.327kg and was charged at 8.80 euros. I did not ask for any particular service and left it up to the counter assistant. This morning the parcel was delivered back to me with a yellow sticker on it saying RETOUR BUREAU EXPEDITEUR, LIASSE INCORRECTE POUR ENVOI EXPORT. The postman explaining that I had to take it back to La Poste because it was the wrong service. Can anyone please shed light on what went wrong, all addresses and boxes on the form were filled in correctly including the CN22 customs declaration. Clair
I might be wrong, but I think the service is for French overseas territories:
See here for international delivery: http://laposte.fr/particulier_envoyez_recevez_colis_international_243.html
Chancer
Yes it was for the DOMS and the DOM TOMS!I suggest that you prepare yourself for a shock when you find the real price especially compared to sending stuff from New Zealand, I was quite spoilt without realising while I was there and outraged when I tried to send something there from France. Bannon
We have also found that sub post offices (if that's the right word) often get it wrong. We felt sure our own local office/bar/garage/baker guy guessed half the time the cost of sending items overseas - it always seemed a bit on the high side, so now we go into the main town to post parcels and packages. Trying to recycle those Colissimo boxes by using them again does not work either. We packaged an item up in a used box, stuck on a new lable, and it was refused. Oh well. CeeJay
Thanks for all the replies and yes, it was the wrong service!!! Surprisingly La Poste put their hands up to the mistake and did not charge any extra for re-posting!
