Kitty
Interesting photographs. How many fire fighters are there? I can't see so many responding in the UK.
The Riff-Raff Element
And how terribly convenient it burning down like that, a fantastic town centre location up for grabs after an unfortunate fire. Funny how that happens [:P]I really liked that cinema too [:(]
Bugsy
Well it was a slightly different response than you would see in the UK. It was a full fifteen minutes after the arrival of the pompiers, that the water actually started to flow. They did have to run their hoses quite a long distance to the hydrants.I presume that they have water carriers but didn't see any arrive. The flames really erupted after they had entered the building presumably the doors being opened gave the fire a chance to draw. You could actually feel the heat from the safe distance we were standing. It was quite funny to see people still sitting and drinking coffee outside the adjacent cafes, as if nothing was happening.Saved a bit of money from the girls reduced shopping time though..................[:D]
Jonzjob
As a reporter on Singapore Radio once announced and quoted the old English expression,"Every silver cloud has a black lining". This was after a bad accident on a good day???

dragonrouge
We were in Niort yesterday and the effects around lunchtime for the traffic was awful. Let us hope no one was injured but people were still sat outside and having a beer and a cig as though nothing was happening.Niort is really lovely and we go there often from the South Vendee it has a certain air about it and the shops and the indoor market on the week end is something else. Also love the wine shop opposite the market and the restaurant next door. Then the chocholate shops in the main street!!! Then the bio shop too opposite the market. All in all a lovely place. Christine Animal
