Uh Hello I am back....

Finally torturously I have found my merry way back onto the internet after a refreshing period of forced abstainance from the www.

After AOL withdrew from France and having had nearly four years reasonably good connection I was forced to go to Orange. What a heap of trouble... the site just rarely worked and so slowly it was crazy. The technical help was zero as was the helpline. They billed me for high and low debit and it did not work with my Mac even though they said it was not a problem.

I have now been forced to annex the kidz poxy PC but it works! Trouble is I don't know how to work one of these ugly things.

Oh well - so whats happened in the last year or so?

I too used AOL dial-up very happily in UK and France until they arbitrarily cut off the "French connection".

After surviving a few months without I finally gave in and have installed orange.fr broadband and apart from a few very small hiccups have found this to be OK, although of course more expensive.

My cousin down near Cannes has just installed his with the help of a professional and is very happy.

Good luck

[quote user="Richard-R"]I use and Mac and connect via Orange (DLS) without any trouble. I use my own router/modem (netgear) and not the one they try and flog in some of their packages.

So do I,  with a Belkin router, ethernet wired to a PC, and WiFi to my Mac and Laptop, and shared printer, it all works perfectly.

Hi good to hear from you. I trust you and your menagerie are well. Atlas the crazy belgian is alive and full time guarding - I do occasionaly threaten to take him back to the dog compound but he doesn't care...

Like others I got caught out by the charming way AOL pulled the plug and, due to work commitments, rushed out and signed up to an Orange Livebox deal.

I use it with a Mac and WiFi - after an initial struggle getting started (and with absolutely terrific and charming phone helpline support so long as one can speak reasonable French) I've not had any problems - touch wood.

Nothing much.  Still the same lovely people in here, except for one individual, who still lurks and still posts nasty things, especially if you quote something from the Telegraph or Mail but not the Guardian....

Welcome back....
