BJSLIV
For the year starting 1 January 2006 the two bills for the taxe fonciere and taxe d'habitation come out in late summer early autumn, so about six months to go.
SaligoBay
Taxe d'habitation is the occupier tax, paid by whoever's living in the house.Taxes foncières is the ownership tax, paid by the house owner whether he lives there or not.So if you're an owner-occupier, you'll have to pay both.Depending on where you are, you may also have a separate bill for refuse. TV licence is included in the taxe d'habitation.
Mr Coeur de Lion
Thanks for that. Thought it came out in Jan hence my question as we hadn't received a bill. Now I know why.Doesn't sound like it'll be a lot as we bought the house in October and only had to pay the immoblier 55E for the extra on these taxes (he bought the house for us as we were living in Australia at the time - long story). Teamedup
Unless it was actually noted in your acte de vente then the owner 'or' the person living there was responsible for these bills for the year of 2005. As you will be responsible for the bills for the full year if you own/live in the property on the 1st of January.
tenniswitch
We usually receive our facture for the Taxe Foncieres in late September or early October, for the Taxe d'Habitation later in October.
