mint
Cheered up by recent information on the Forum about ordering goods from the UK, I recently ordered some things from M & S.Today, I have a letter from Chronopost International headed "Avis de Souffrance" and saying that "Malheureusement, les informations en notre possession ne nous ont pas permis de vous livrer cet envoi."Tried ringing them several times but haven't been able to get through. The calls cost €0.15 a minute, so not exactly cheap when you have to hang on.Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how did you overcome it and get your parcel delivered?I don's suppose it's worth contacting M & S to see if the lack of information issue started at their end. I mean, are senders using this service supposed to, for instance, include a list of contents or whatever? You'd think I'm trying to smuggle arms into the country or something when all I ordered were some thermal underwear and warm clothing for the winter! Please advise me ASAP as I am threatened with having my parcel returned to the expéditeur if I don't respond quickly. Many thanks. Danny
You can try calling them on the normal number 01 55 01 38 70 or 01 55 01 38 78 for imports - they seem to answer that right away.Danny
Pierre ZFP
Well you see, M&S probably correctly labled it as 'Thermal Undies'This being France, only scanty bits of transparent lingerie are allowed in. [:P][:$]
Anton Redman
Check what happens when you input your 'phone number is supplied to M & S to thishttp://www.pagesjaunes.fr/quidonc/aquiestcenumero.doIf you get a map to your house than their is not a problem. If you are list rouge / ex directory I might have some sympathy with Chronopost. Then contact M & S and explain you do not see why when you have M & S the same information that the Post Office use to deliver all your mail that their chosen courrier cannot find you and that you do not see why you should spend hanging on to an unaswered relephoned. Be polite but firm and ask them to do something about it. You did not choose Chronopost they did.
mint
Thank you, all for your replies.Anton, interestingly enough, your link didn't give a map to my house. Has that anything to do with it being pages jaunes rather than pages blancs?Danny, I rang the first number you gave, the person who came on the phone gave me the second number you provided. The second person gave me a third number which I shall give here in case it's of help to someone else. The number is 01 55 01 38 20.Result after all the phone calls and being passed around a bit is that the parcel should be delivered tomorrow morning. I had to give details on how to find me and provide my phone number.Fingers crossed the parcel will be here as promised.
Gluestick
Thermals at this time of year, Sweets? That sounds depressingly organised............And BTW, do you have some secret info about the forthcoming Hivre?[:D]
Anton Redman
No link works perfectly for my house and a coupleof my friends Pages Jaunnes are the publishers of both the business and home telephone directories in France. Check out a couple of friends numbers. You should see a confirmation of their name and address plus a link called 'plan' whihc gives you a very small scale map
mint
Anton, you're absolutely right. I did find our friend's "plan" but our own number doesn't even make an appearance.Could be because we've given up our fixed landline. But thanks for your suggestion. AnOther
For me the pagesjaunes page simply gives my village but I am actually 3.5km outside of it.I've had a few deliveries via Chronopost and all have arrived on the doorstep without intervention. If normal post from UK arrives then there should be no good reason for Chronopost deliveries not to. I don't know if M&S provide any email confirmations but can you check what address they actually put on the package ?If they sent you a tracking number you might be able to check it HERE but I somehow doubt that they sent it Chronopost, I don't think you can do that from UK (could you send a package via Parcelforce from France [Www]) but that whoever they did dispatch it with has passed it on to them. mint
Hi all you kind and helpful people!Just to say my parcel came this morning, as promised by Chronopost yesterday, and all my thermals are here ready for winter. Mind you, looking out the window today, I'm tempted to put them all on at once!
