Kitty
How do I find a (French speaking) summer holiday camp for my 10 year old son? He goes to school in France and his friends have told him about them. He has been told that lots of children go away for a week or so.What is the French for a holiday camp? Does anyone know of any websites (without the correct French terminology, I can't find them on the web)?I did a search on this Forum with no success. With gratitude... Cat
Cathy, try googling colonie de vacancesEDIT, this site seems to have quite a selection, and you can search by age group... http://www.123sejours.com/
Kitty
Parfait, Cat. 'Colonie' was the word that I was searching for. Off to see if I can book something - thanks for the website as well.
Lori
I looked this up a while back and kept some of the links. Hopefully they will still work:http://www.actionexpression.com/colos/sejours_ete.htmlhttp://www.escapadeevasion.com/accueil.htmhttp://www.123sejours.com/ ( I think Clair listed this one above)http://www.lsl-france.fr/sejours-juniors/detail-sejour.php?idSejour=20&page=deschttp://www.actionexpression.com/colos/ae_projet.htmlhttp://www.silc-evasion.fr/index.htmlThere were many more listed on the web.. Lollie
Hi I think www.ucpa.com is probably the most popular, certaininly round here anyway. My 15yr old went from Nantes to the alps last summer and had a fab time. Canoeing, cycling climbing and discoing! Everything included, well worth the money. Kitty
Thank you for all the links. I looked at most of them. I haven't booked anything because I thought the camps would be cheaper. The budget ones start at 250 euros for a week and the ones that my son likes (sailing) are more like 450 euros.Where we stay, the Mairie puts on various daytime holiday activities (archery, horse riding, sailing etc) for 6 euros per day (8am - 6pm) so I think that he'll be joining in those. With gratitude to the posters. Lori
Yes, I too was rather surprised by some of the costs. We have local outings too that are much less expensive.
