Dave&Olive
ALMOST half of the departments of France have been placed on an “orange” weather alert with storm risks today (the third highest of four levels). The warning means “be very careful, dangerous weather is expected.” The alert area concerns a diagonal up through France between the Pyrenees and the Belgian border. While the daytime will be calm and warm in most areas, there are likely to be “violent” storms this evening and night, with the first storms expected in the South-west before moving north. There may be some “very violent” winds, heavy rain and even hail. Météo France say you should be careful, especially if travelling or doing leisure activities, avoid using in the phone or electrical equipment, and if a storm is approaching shelter away from wooded areas. The following regions are affected: Aquitaine, Centre, Haute-Normandie, Ile-de-France, Limousin, Midi-Pyrénées, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Picardy and the following departments : Allier, Ardennes, Aube, Cantal, Charente, Marne, Nièvre, Puy-de-Dôme, Vienne and Yonn got this of the Conextion site Dave
wallifer
There's a breeze around now and a few clouds coming over, bit differcult keeping away from wooded areas when you have trees around you.[blink]

cal
Looking at www.meteox.fr and waiting in the South Vendee to see if we're going to escape. Told the guests in the gite there might be a storm and gave them torches and candles. Watered the garden this evening just in case it passed us by so it's bound to rain now! Click on your region to see in more detail.
Patf
It's still rumbling and flashing here. We sat outside in our "new" outdoor dining room and watched the spectacle - very strong winds, huge raindrops, some hailstones , thunder and lightening. Some tree damage to an old willow. And I'd left some washing on the line [blink]

Scooby
When our roof was damaged the insurers paid up - though they did argue over the price.

Âme
Hi Ann - the mayor called round this morning & said that this storm won't be a declared a catastrophe naturelle because that doesn't cover hail, but that house insurance would cover the damage. Pompiers are here now, replacing some roof tiles and putting a bache over the very badly damaged parts of the roof over the house.
Âme
Hey, thanks Frenchie. [:)] I'm so glad I wasn't out in it... I see there were quite a few injuries further north.
