Can I say the name ???????? , but must say a very nice couple butalso he was at times anti English , sadly I do not know my history . He blamed Britain as being the cause of Belgian being split in half in 1800and something. OOOerrr I could say more but we just smiled............................... I am typing everything I can think of what he said but he does not come up in google..... woolybanana
Not sure at all to be honest. Belgium was never a united country anyway; Quicker it splits and cleans up Walloon politics, the better for all. It might also get rid of Flemish fascism. AnOther
According to Wikipedia Britain has played no part in Belgian history in fact there is no mention of either Britain or England in the entire Wiki entry. In another forum recently someone was commenting that they had met manyEnglish people in France who claimed to be in hiding having worked forMI6 so maybe your neurosurgeon is one of those, is his nameMitty by any chance [Www]

[/quote] At his age it would be very unlikely that he would still be working as a neurosurgeon. Sir Magdi Yacoub, one of the world's leading cardiac surgeons was required to stop operating at the age of 65.
Clair
These should give you solid background on the history of Belgium:http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/2874.htmhttp://www.visitbelgium.com/historyofbelgium.htmThe golfer's name is Seve Ballesteros. BIG MAC
http://www.world-amn.org/members/alexandru_v/alexandru_v.pdfThis gent is 69 however I would not wish to suggest that he is any other way connected to the subject matter other than he would appear to be a senior neuro surgeon who lives in Belgium (Albeit he is repoirted to be Romanian)Posted simply to suggest that even if not the right person it's possible to fit the criteria discussed. milkeybar kid
Thanks for everyone's help, Russthouse I have been to all your links and he is not there. Hum, I have the bit between my teeth now , I am wondering now why he was not as pleased as the others were when I took pictures of us all sat at the table!! I have put his full name in google, I would have thought a "thesis" or something of that nature would have appeared. He also said as a young man he translated at the Russian Embassy, so he has been about a bit!! Thanks Big Mac , interesting. We have been chuckling over our observations of the man and I keep thinking about what an exceptional long finger nail he had on his index finger, which brought to mind a conversation we had some time ago with others who had come across similar and no not a finger plucking guitarist but its where the "wonder dust" goes for a quick sniff, I digress, sorry. Evianers
Used to live in Belgium for 15 years - they can all be a little "quirky". However, medical system excellent in our opinion and experience. If you ask a Belgian is he a Belgian, he will generally answer, No I'm Flemish or No, I am Walloon. Sad really. Good deal of angst between the two rival language groups. chocccie
Perhaps you have spelled his name incorrectly when typing it into google? That aside, don't you think it's a little creepy to be investigating somebody in this way? [8-)] Would you appreciate it if somebody did it to you?
milkeybar kid
No certainly not creepy, I was much impressed in some ways, a most interesting character ,we will be meeting again next week having just received an invitation!! I would have liked to say for eg: "that I had read about his work etc- to have made an effort with my own research on the subject's that interested him, it would have made for a good conversation. Also thanks to others with this post I am researching with Wikipedia etc (when its too hot to be outside!) on trying to understand as to why he thought Britain was at fault for some of Belgium's change of history. Perhaps on reflection I should not have headed the post with .... is he a fraud,( I still cant understand with triple checking spelling etc ... I cant find him) but then I might not have had the same amount of help, thank you again to those that have been so helpful! If someone had taken the trouble to do the same for me then I would be well pleased.Milkey
Edward Trunk
Michael Jackson "dies" and shortly after a strange man claiming to be a Belgian neurosurgeon turns up in Europe. Further comment seems superfluous.
