buelligan
Interesting stuff Clair, I am already registered but I'm sure many will be interested in this. Could I ask though, you say that people may register/vote if they are permanent residents in France. Could you confirm this? I ask because there is someone in my village who is trying to get all the holiday home owners signed up. I instinctively felt this was probably wrong but it would be good to know what the actual rules are. Many thanks in advance.
Clair
There has been a misunderstanding in the past caused by the possibility for a resident in France to register to vote either in the commune of his main residence or in the commune of his second home. But this option only applies if the person resides in France. Judith
Does this have to be done every year? We registered last year, (caused some confusion in the mairie, but accepted ok) so do we do it again this year??
Clair
No, once is enough, unless you move to another commune. The lists are open around this time every year and close on the 31st December, so it's a little nudge for those who are not yet registered as voters in France [:)]. Pierre ZFP
I'm registered here in Luxembourg to vote in Local and MEP elections and I diligently de-registered myself in the UK (and got a confirmation of same). What happened in the last lot of elections? Yep, I got voting forms sent to me in Lux and the UK. How does it go? One man two votes?
Mr Coeur de Lion
Try registering in France as well Pierre, then you can have 3 votes. Make up for me, as I won't be bothering.
