minnie
Does anyone know what the equivalent of sending a registered letter is in France? I have some important documents to send to New Zealand and I wondered if there was a higher level than recorded (recommande)
Mr Coeur de Lion
I've had the same problem sending important documents to Australia. There is another service, struggling to remember its name, but it is much slower. In fact the quickest way is to send it by normal means. Even recommande is slower. Normally takes 10 days whereas normal post is 7.

mint
The proof of receipt was certainly not returned to France by the British postal system. I know because I have the bits of paper!Just don't think they realise what has to be done.
Chancer
I have had the same (lack of) result in both directions between the countries and to and from some others. My verdict isthat it is a total waste of money to expect a foreign postal system to adhere to the requests (usually written in a foreign language) on a letter or parcel received from overseas.I suppose that it works for proof of posting but there are cheaper ways to acheive this. just john
Reality is that if you want an international service with tracking and signed receipt then you need to use an international carrier. I have used DHL satisfactorily in the past, usual disclaimer.
Russethouse
I was just going to suggest the same John, we have been using them for 10 years plus, no problems so far - touch wood !
Mr Coeur de Lion
Yes, that's it avis de reception thingy. I used it to send off my Aussie tax returns this year. Wish the post system had lost it in fact. But as I didn't care how long it took, I used this system and got the proof of receipt back within 3 weeks I think it was. Gardengirl
If it works for Australia, maybe NZ would also notice there's a slip to return on your letter, and at least you'll have proof you sent it off. But the DHL way sounds more reliable. We've always received letters for house purchase etc from France to UK still with the slip that should have been returned, even though it's very bright and can't be missed. minnie
Thanks everyone. I think I'll just go down the Recommandée route - at least I'll have proof of posting.
