pachapapa
Well I suppose to be expected the charms of Carla are slowly diminishing.Last week a photograph of a NAKED Carla of 1993 vintage was expected to attract keen bidding when it was offered for auction by PIASAat the famous auction venue the Hôtel Drouot. But surprise was expressed when the exquisitely framed nude study belonging to a German Gentleman failed to reach the reserve price. The composition of the photo has been favourably compared to the Paintings of Georges Seurat from the end of the 19th century. The comparison with "Les Poseuses" will be self evident to cultured persons having an artistic inclination.Whilst to others it may be just a typical Cairo Back Street Under The Counter Nudge Nudge Porno Event. But I am sure those who read the french press and follow the TV newscasts will have already seen the snapshot several times. For a change the artistic style of Seurat.http://art.mygalerie.com/les%20maitres/seur8.html
mint
Ah, thank you, Pachapapa, for advancing my artistic education.Seurat, for me, has always just been the man "of the dots". Sad, but true. I'm not proud of that but it's mea culpa time, I guess. Thanks for the link: quite, quite beautiful!
pachapapa
Well it finally went for € 6,000 in a private arrangement. Not much improvement on the highest bid last week.http://www.20minutes.fr/article/365550/People-La-photo-de-Carla-Bruni-nue-vendue-finalement-6-000-euros.phpP.S Worth remembering the 14 day period for a private offer subsequent to the termination of the auction. woolybanana
Why did Seurat pose a load of naked ladies in front of a window overlooking a park where people are walking and apparently ignoring what is obvious?
mint
Cause he didn't realise you'd be walking in the park at that time, Wools.
pachapapa
Twas part of a publicity event with the very first prototype full wall St Gobain window.
mint
Thing is, though, if it's a St Gobain window, why was Wooly disguised as a window-cleaner and peering in at the naked ladies?I thought St Gobain class was supposed to be .......er....self-cleaning?
