expatgirl
What are the alternatives - if any - to having a signature notarized (simple attestation), other than doing so at the consular section (where it takes three hours and costs a fortune)? sturner
We had to get a document witnessed here a few years ago and were told that nobody in france could recoginse a British passport therefore could not sign that we were who we said we were. However we went to the mairie who after looking in the biggest book we have ever seen confirmed that they couldn't do it, stamped and signed the document as we didn't just walk away and it was a private matter. Sometimes just persistence and empathy with fonctionnaires sees us through here.
Millymollymandy
I'm not quite sure what you are asking or why you would have to go to Paris (unless you live there). But if you have to have a legal document notarised, you go to your nearest Notaire, and ask them to do it. It is very simple and I have done it and it is free. sturner
I would recommend you try this but we were told that they were not qualified to recognise a UK passport, but like most things here it depends which official you come across! Good luck.
