'Hand Holding Service'

Recommended Posts

Hi, just wondered if anyone has used a 'hand holding service prior to moving to france to help with all those questions regarding tax, inheritance and health, Auto entrepreneur etc, we feel we would benefit from talking to someone to get all our enquiries sorted prior to our move.

RH, that thread is now over two years old. Although the general advice holds good, the situation has changed regarding that specific trading name.

The original holders were, allegedly, of somewhat doubtful legality, having apparently failed to register properly in France and failed to file accounts in UK, and the business was transferred to a property company in Northern France - I have no personal experience but did hear the words 'chocolate teapot' used in that context. The name now seems to have been registered in UK again, last month, the registered address being an accountant in Somerset. As the current web site refers only to a UK company, but states that those involved are 'resettled' in SW France (the previous incarnation was in the Orne dept in Normandy), it would appear that the legality of the company to take money and operate in France is still in doubt.

Also since then, the autoentrepreneur scheme has encouraged bilingual and knowledgeable people to register as 'interpreters', giving exactly the sort of service that the OP would seem to want. Some of these people are very good indeed.

We looked at 'Oui can help' before moving almost 3 years ago but never used them as in the event things turned out a lot less complicated than we had expected and what help and advice we did need we found either on this, and other, forums (and continue to [;-)]) or by asking people we had met who'd experienced things themselves.

Admittedly no complications of AE/business, Gites, B&B etc. though.

A good Immo can be an invaluable and free help in the early days.

As I was working until virtually the day we moved over, I did use Oui Can Help but in retrospect all the help they gave me (registering and insuring my car, finding an insurer, registering for healthcare, getting into the tax system) I could have found on here.  As ANO says, any good estate agent will help with the services aspect also - and given their fees that's as it should be.

In your position, o/p, I'd stick to using this forum for pointers in the right direction and going direct to professionals for pratical help.

Some of what you need to know about healthcare is on our website - link below.[:)]
