NormanH
This question, or variations of it, crops up frequently on the Forum. It might be of interest to see this table showing the net earnings for number of job sectors, which gives an example of what French people live on:http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh80/bfb_album/infographiesalaires.jpg
cooperlola
Some time ago, Norman, Clair posted a link about income levels by commune. It was eye-opening stuff. However, I suspect the question of how much somebody can live on has a good deal more to do with what they are used to than what they actually need in order to sustain life. woolybanana
Well, Normie, interesting to notice that tutoyeurs are relatively well paid. However, these figures are a bit deceptive as they do not take into account the allowances for partners, including concubines and their spawn plus whatever the post-Mitterandist extravagance still dishes out, NOR whatever happens on Saturdays and other Black Work days. Or whatever families earn as a unit, which b*ugger these figures right royal. So, French people do not really live on these amounts. So guys, take this with a pinch of sel as its Normie!!! Will
I think this is the site: http://www.linternaute.com/ville/You can enter your commune and find out all sorts of information.Admittedly the mean household income figures date from 2004, but our commune's average monthly income per household is around half of the figures on Norman's table. cooperlola
Yes, Will, that's the one (or if not it's very similar). Yes, I know it's out of date but when I think what we lived on in 2004...[Www]
Gluestick
Well, that is interesting Will and JE.Revenu par ménage : 9 824 € / an Now that's the apparent sum for our commune.Which provides me with a good larf: as I suggested to the nice young man from the local rep for SPANC: when I asked him how le vieux were going to be able to afford upwards of € 8.000,00 for new fosse septiques: as being an old agricultural "Cottage" community, the vast majority of residences were small and rather old and dilapidated. And have little usable land.We have apparently 110 residents: and only 34 active.Over to you M. Spanc.[:)]
