Trevor
Does anyone know what our neighbours responsibility is (in French law) with regard to weeds/shrubs growing on his property which may be causing damage to our buildings/walls and are equally unpleasant to look out at every day? I'm not looking to start an argument but we recently had a long and acrimonious dispute with this neighbour which we fortunately won but which would have been much shorter and less traumatic for us if we had been more knowledgeable about rights and responsibilities. As ever, all help appreciated. zeb
If they are really causing damage point that out and just ask him nicely to cut them back. You could offer to help.If it's just that you don't like looking at it, put up a fence.
Will
If there is a genuine problem have a word with the maire or your commune. He or she has the power to make people tidy things up or prevent them causing damage. Unless of course the maire is a bosom buddy of the neighbour.
