Chancer
I dont know her name but I saw her interviewed by a Sky News reporter last night, she is the 22 year od that has just become the youngest person (or perhaps it was female) to climb Mt Everest. Now clearly it was a great achievement and should inspire others but in this age where so many young girls aspire to be W.A.G.S. or reality TV contestants it was such a breath of fresh air to watch and listen to someone that spoke with confidence and clarity, didnt pepper her speech with like or other affectations, she was naturally beautifull, not caked in make up and was dressed in casual clothes that suited her and did not make her look like a prostitute.Mind you her mother looked younger than she did! cooperlola
Sarah Moore is another. At 15 the first female sports car champion when she won last year's Ginetta Junior Championship. As you so rightly say, good to see people who triumph by being good at something, instead of just being a "personality" (which normally means that's the one thing they don't have.) Chancer
The young lady in question, and I use that term as a mark of respect, definitely had a personality, one of her own, not borrowed from the celeb media or a public school and very captivating it was.She wants to be the first or perhaps youngest female to cross the South Pole, I hope she gets her chance, she would make a great motivational and public speaker.A company I worked for belonged to a group where the CEO was celeb starstruck, you know the type that loved wearing a dinner suit and having his photo taken with celebs, as a consequence the Stars Organisation for Spastics (SOS which later had to adopt the PC name SCOPE IIRC) was our group charity and he loved to hire celebs to speak at the cheif executives conferences.I found the sporting guys more interesting and could draw from their experience, Will Carling before his association with Diana became known was one but for me the best motivational speaker by far was Diana Moran (the green goddess) who spoke about her continued fight with cancer.
