woolybanana
Some of you may remember that I have been pursuing an insurance claim as a result of the seizing up of the motor of my camping car, some four months after I got it. After considerable coming and going between the experts and querying the bill, for every single boulon, it looks as if I shall have got a new engine for about €1600 from my pocket with about €6400 coming from the insurance, garage and camping car company.. Under the circumstances, which were that the engine had done over 100,000 km, that the relevant service had been done some 20000 kms before and that I now have a much better power unit, I wonder if I could have done better? I am doubtful. The problem remained that the engine block had never been formally tested to see if it was really unusable or not and has long gone to Morocco to be rebuilt, so they could not carry out the extra relevant tests I wanted. Which would have made it very difficult for the court to order a bigger settlement as there was no evidence and it could have gone on for quite a while.Any thoughts svp? Sunday Driver
You've replaced a 100,000km engine for a brand new one for just 1600€. By the time you knock off the cost of the service which would have been coming up due on the old unit, it sounds like a good deal.Time to draw a line under all this, fill up the fridge, load up the animals and get back out on the road....................[;-)]
