5-element
http://www.europe1.fr/France/Le-Gard-en-vigilance-rouge-264788/Red alert is highly unusual, it is only the 7th time it has been used since its creation.Mega-heavy rainfall, more to come today and tonight, floods are expected, with rivers bursting their banks? Gardian
Yes, it is a bit damp around here!Violent thunderstorms through the night, but a bit calmer 1st thing this morning. Went off to Ales, but big cloudbursts around midday.Apparently the Gardon is expected to flood around Uzes later today. We're on high ground btw! Gardian
Couldn't help smiling at the reference to schools being sent home at midday today. Most of them were en greve today, and some round here yesterday too (might as well faire le pont!). Gardian
It was pretty wild and woolly here yesterday evening.Monster thunderstorm which went on for about 3-4 hrs, with driving rain and and what amounted to a tornado thrown in. It all died away shortly after midnight.Debris everywhere on the roads this morning, but from the sounds of it, no flooding. Now, clear blue sky & 26C. 5-element
Thankfully, "plus de peur que de mal", then! A friend in Gallargues said the same thing.
DerekJ
Gardian, Hopefully you've survived alright. It always makes you (me) nervous when the forces of nature get a bit violent.
Gardengirl
We're still in UK for a couple more days, and have been up north without internet for a couple of days, so have just read the post about the red alert. Glad things turned out not to be as bad as predicted possible. Had an email from our AVF group telling everyone that the office is closed, as they have so much water damage. The various groups are all delayed until it can be all cleared up; but it obviously could have been a lot worse! We also live on high ground, and our apartment is on the second floor; but watching from the balcony would have been exciting!
