Chrissie
Maps by department can be misleading - we are not far from you Pads, in Mazamet, but we are in an unusually low calcium area. More than a pea-size drop of shampoo on our hair and we cannot rinse it off as the water is so soft. You should get an annual water analysis from your water supplier - ours shows that we "do not meet French standard requirements" owing to the very low calcium content. Pads
Thankyou Chrissie ...Im just trying to remember if I get lots of suds in our soap or not ...... Still out there next week must remember to check that ...dont think I do as I remember thinking in the summer how I went through lots of washing up liquid .....!! We dont get any build up on the kettle so that means soft water dosnt it ?
Gardengirl
That's right, Pads. We have extremely hard water in UK, use a water filter jug which prevents build-up in kettles etc, and water softening tablets in washing machine and dishwasher when I remember them.In France we also have hard water, but not nearly as hard as in UK. We have a water filter jug there too, but find that soap, shampoo etc goes a little further than in UK.I find rinsing hair etc takes ages when in a soft water area, as I've almost always lived with hard water and tend to use far too much!
