idun
Not for the first time in my life I find myself next to neighbours where the woman in the household 'screams' at her OH and could win a national competition such is the shrieking. As I have found in the past, I do not hear the bloke say a thing and she screams and screams, hysterically comes to mind and if he can understand a word, I would be most surprised. Why do women do this? Why would anyone do this day after day after day. It is very bad on so many levels. Why stay if someone is so unhappy, or maybe they want their OH to go? It's something I rarely do and have to be worn down for quite some time first and then the pressure valve goes and I steam off for a minute or so, but that is it. I couldn't live like that and I don't understand it at all. Any views on this, or insights? One thing is for sure, I would never ever mention this to my neighbour, if she started on me, I'd have to cover my ears and sing a 'la la' song to myself.[:-))]
Patf
When we lived in Gateshead we had a neighbour like that, but usually she was shouting at her son, aged 10 (who was a little so and so.)Once she said to me "I'm sick of our Ian shouting - what can I do about it?" What could I reply? They moved house in the end so the problem was resolved for us, anyway.
cooperlola
Maybe the husband's lack of reaction just makes her more frustrated, Idun. It's easy to wind my o/h up so I never have to scream very loudly or for long, myself.[:)]
Lori
Sounds like everyone's nightmare neighbors. If she keeps up the screaming, she'll likely do her health a great deal of harm, if she hasn't already. As to the OH, no idea. Perhaps he is hard of hearing, yes I know it's unlikely. I'd never endure that, nor would I scream. I hate screaming. I can't even stand any sort of noise - to the extreme that it annoys many of my family members. I like a lot of quiet. If I argue, I never raise my voice. I know everyone is different, but repeated screaming is a sign of serious health issues. Perhaps this woman suffers from an illness that causes her to scream, or takes medication that has that affect on her. No idea, but I would steer clear of her at all times. idun
ROFL as I said, not for the first time, ie I would hear such carryings on in rural France too. I don't think that there is nationality for this sort of thing. It isn't 'all' the time either, and for all our houses are attached, we don't usually hear them, it is when they go outside for her to have a screaming session, that I hear.
