Senate election results

Surprised nobody has mentioned this as it looks like the Dwarf is now a lameduck President, as the Communist/Socialist coalition now has control of the upper house, effectively blocking anything he might want to do. You can check your dept senators here................

From a political point of view, in the run up to the elections, it might work in the Dwarf's favour. He can put any populist/pro-capitalist/property owning policies he wants through the lower house, the upper house blocks it, he blames them, and he picks up a few votes. Does not bode well if he was to win(stop laughing! Elvis is still alive!), absolutely nothing will get passed.

At least it put paid to the arch facist Le Pen. She looked good until about 3-4 months ago.

Keep an eye on her though. If she looks like getting in, I suggest that French back flips on healthcare for you lot, will look like chicken feed, it's just the start.......if you aren't white and French...............go home. Seems to be her only policy.

I can only hope that she doesn't get in, but it is rather traditional to vote FN for the first tour to show dissatisfaction with the main parties. And look what happened last time too many did that, did for Jospin, that is for sure!

White and french, sounds right, although I know of a metis young man who is now rabid FN. He along with a friend of his who has olive skin, but it is very fonce. Or do the FN accept non white french people these days as long as they are not maghrebs.

Interesting times ahead.  Mr C and I were discussing this over lunch.  I really must get going with the dual nationality application.  I feel so helpless not being able to vote here.  Time to get off my b*m.

Can those without voting rights join  French political parties?

I don't see why one cannot join a political party as we can vote in local elections and in the european elections.

Not really a political party per se but friends wanted us to join their 'group' for the local elections.

Also a few members of this board are elu too.
