idun
Just been talking to someone tonight in France and they told me something strange, and very odd and for me and is sinister. Apparently where they live, if they apply for a job, the application is vetted by someone in Paris, apparently, who works for the Pole d'Emploi and they decide whether the application for a job will be made. Now how can this be. Companies and even small entreprises decide who they want, do they want 'big brother' type vetting? If they do, then there is no hope. dave21478
If you advertise a position, you can choose to have all the applications vetted by them before being sent on to you.First time I used them, I never bothered and was snowed under with dross applications in text-speak from no-hopers who were being made to apply for jobs. Next time, I asked for them to be vetted and while I only received a tiny number of applications, they were all relevant and qualified. However, I cant help but wonder how many "maybes" slipped through and had their cv's binned.
Val_2
Not only that, you cannot find out if the applicant has a previous criminal record and what for without going through all the rigmorole of a judge and a court.Maybe these vetters are doing just that??We hired a maçon once. Turned out we were his third employer in six months because he had robbed the first one and written off a company van and then hit the boss of the second firm and got a suspended sentence. No way was any of that on his CV and it only came to light when the next firm after we terminated his minimum contract came to see me asking if we had any trouble because he had caught him stealing and causing problems and had to sack him.A lot of the time, the Pôle emploi ad has the actual prosepective patron or company marked down at the bottom and you can contact them direct to show a bit of initiative. idun
I asked that question Dave, as I had heard of that before, but was told that it was ALL applications that got vetted now. If someone is dishonest or a criminal then I doubt that you can do much about that, other than to ask them to get a copy of their own criminal record, if there is nothing then there'll be nothing on it.
