idun
I would like to say that someone is has passed a qualification to be a licensee. As I don't think that this exists in France? or does it?I am struggling, I have given a description using many many words, but there must be something simpler, neater, is there? NormanH
Are you talking about a license to sell alcohol?I think you just buy that in France, although there may be a police check on the person buying.http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Licence_IV"En France, la licence IV est une autorisation pour certains débits de boisson de vendre des boissons alcoolisées et liqueurs.Il est néanmoins possible de les acquérir, les muter ou les transférer et dans ce dernier uniquement au sein du même département.'I believe that the responsible authority is 'les Douanes' To understand what awaits he might like to watchhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWDyv-dz_Qk
idun
Yes, a qualification to be a pub licencee. I thought it was still 'just' bought it in France from the Douanes. And yes thanks, you have said enough there for me to describe it far far better than I have so far.
pachapapa
Small and probably not the case but to hold a licence as contemplated in france one must be a national of the european union. So no americans, australians, fijians, samoans, etc.
Chancer
How did the Australians near you work around that one PPP?
idun
Ofcourse I understand what a license is in France, hence wanting to simply explain in one sentence rather than ten, which I can now do.
pachapapa
How did the Australians near you work around that one PPP?
They never managed to crack it despite going through the immigration washing machine twice. At the moment they are in australia and were due to return in the spring; This may be delayed as P had a serious accident. Eventually I presume that the property will be sold. Pity they were a positive element to the community.
Chancer
Speaking for hereabouts any nationality other than French running a bar would make a quantum improvement to the atmosphere and ergo the chiffre d'affaires.
