calvadnack
I am told that a government grant is available when changing to a pellet burning stove, providing the house is your main residence. Can anyone tell me please what steps have to be followed in order to obtain this grant.Simon
Clair
I'm not aware of any grant towards any heating apparatus. What is available is a tax refund. In other words, you have to pay for the item first, then claim the refund by completing your income tax declaration the following year. If all is in order, you'll get 15% of the purchase cost if it's a new installation, and 25% if it replaces another type of boiler. Not this is purchase costs, not installation/labour cost.More details HERE.
powerdesal
There certainly is, or at least was until very very recently a scheme where you could get an interest free loan of up to Euro 20,000 for a period of 10 years. It has / had to be for certain ''eco friendly'' installations, wood pellet stoves were certainly included as was double glazing.I have the application forms somewhere but, as I am not yet a resident they are not of use.Whether the scheme has been discontinued I have no idea. idun
Were stoves really included? Stoves may be expensive but they won't cost anything like that much.
powerdesal
The loan ( not grant ) was UP TO Euro 20,000, as I understand it the amount borrowed ( interest free ) could be any amount within that maximum and was not limited to one item but could be a total amount covering items which met the criteria. In my case, as an example, I would be covered for wood pellet boiler fired CH and double glazing. The only other fact that I remember from the T & Cs of the loan was that a new septic system could not be included with other items, in that case it was an either / or situation. calvadnack
Thank you for your reply. Very interesting that one supplier quoted 40%, does this mean that you get 15% for a new installation then a further 25% for the removal of your old system and not as it suggests either 15% or 25% .Simon. Patf
As far as I know you don't get "grants" in France, for property improvements. You might get a tax allowance or a low interest loan though.
