Gardian
About this time last week, a local (15kms away) 15yo girl went missing. From about Tuesday, pictures of her have been all over the place in our village and doubtless further afield - her parents must have been frantic. I asked in the boulangerie only this morning whether there had been any news - "A few sightings around and about, but ......".Today, an individual was apprehended in Germany in the course of trying to pinch a laptop (or something along those lines). The youngster was found in the boot of his car: it seems that he has a criminal record (incl sexual offences) as long as your arm. The initial report is that she has suffered no molestation and is OK.[:D]
NormanH
Delighted to hear that she is OK.Of course you can imagine which prison (and which town) her kidnapper had just come out of [:@]http://www.midilibre.fr/2012/11/16/chloe-aurait-ete-retrouvee-vivante-en-allemagne,595406.php
Gardian
Have you cornered the market in clinks down there in Beziers, Norman? I know that there's a big one in Avignon, but that's 'over the border' in to the Vaucluse. I would have thought that Nimes warranted a halfway decent prison. He is a local to this area though - hardly a pillar of society. On a serious note, the finding of this youngster is bloody good news: without putting too fine a point on it, she may never have heard of again without what happened today. Chancer
Yes the reporting was joyous, all the people klaxonning when they passed the parents Shopi, the festivities at la salle des fêtes, behind that joy was the unspoken certain knowledge of what you wrote Gardian, sadly it seems such a frequent occurence and usually the best the family can hope for is a body.she was also very lucky to survive the crash at the end of the police chase (they had no idea of her presence) the innocent driver of the other car was critically injured. It appears that physically she is in good shape, I hope psycologically she is also. Gardengirl
Just marvellous news! I'd been following the story like many others, and had begun to think Chloé wouldn't be seen again. She'll need a lot of support in many ways, but was so lucky to emerge from that car alive, as Chancer says.
PaulT
Excellent news. However, what will happen, he will be put in prison, released again and will commit another offence, hopefully be arrested and the whole thing will go round and round.Paul
Gardian
Yes Paul, always a concern. The really worrying thing is that apparently the Gendarmerie were making enquiries on all people with a record of sexual molestation and this guy didn't appear on the list!! His original home was barely 20kms from where the youngster was abducted and his recent abode (after being released from jail) just another 10kms or so further on. Christine Animal
Luckily the German police are a little more efficient !
