idun
There is good reason why I do not like Lyon Airport, I never have and then they changed the name to a tongue twister, well it is when I try and get my mouth round Exupery and say it properly.......... and I like it even less. It gets worse and worse.I arrived after a nuit blanche at lunch time yesterday. At the information desk the woman looked very disinterested and almost reluctantly told me where the navette bus stop was........... and she sent me in the wrong direction, it was not as if they had good signs up they never have. And the next information desk could not be bothered and did not tell me I had to go to the desk to buy a ticket. So out I went to the stop and some one there told me that I had to go back in to buy a ticket. The girl at the desk was horrible, as the bus times are changing at the end of March, I asked what time the buses would be on my return trip. It is almost the end of March and she said in a tone that was unnecessary that I would have to look on the internet. I commented that no one had been any help whatsoever at the airport and it was as bad as ever and she said that I was very rude. The navette driver should give lessons, he was pleasant more than helpful and drove beautifully. I doubt he would get a job at the airport, he would show every one else up. I suppose a couple or so years ago me getting the run around would not have been a problem, but currently my left knee is playing up, probably due to the weather and I felt the need to take a walking stick with me as I am not walking at all well, Still travellors with luggage should not get the run around any way.Tomorrow I will complain to the airport and tomorrow I will call the bus drivers boss and make sure he is aware that his employee does his job very well indeed, complaining is one thing, but I give praise where it is due too. NormanH
I had a dreadful experience getting from the airport to Lyon Part-Dieu station a couple of years ago.In the end I gave up and took an expensive taxi, as I had a TGV booked. As you say the information is seriously lacking, and the staff rude. What is even more infuriating is that there is a TGV station at the airport, but at that time it only seemed to serve trains coming from the north or going back there.Anything from to or from Montpellier just didn't stop[:@]
Gardian
I couldn't quite believe what you've just said Norman, so I thought that I'd test it. You were right. It must be a 'ghost station'.There are no direct TGV's to Montpellier (well, on Thursday next anyway) and just one during the whole day that goes to Avignon TGV. It seems strange, because Paris CDG is quite well served.Bizarrely, the SNCF software offered one option from St Exupery to Avignon, which was to take a northbound train to Paris and then a non-stopper to Avignon!!! Sadly, there might be some who'd think that was a feasible routing.
