Mrs Trellis
Not sure if this is the best topic to post on, but can't see a more relevant one.Our new house has no name. The Mairie gave numbers to all houses in the village 2 years ago. The house opposite has a number. When I asked: 'You're not in the village'. But we are according to the plans, or someone couldn't have built a house there - the surrounding land is classed as agricultural. 'You'll can think of a nice name instead'.I don't want something corny like 'belle vue' or something accidentally funny/rude in French. (A friend's house, already named when they bought it, is unfortunately very similar to something a bit rude - so they pronounce it very carefully and there are sniggers.)Is there any sort of convention for naming houses? It didn't bother me in our little street of 7 properties but the new one is at the end of a chemin and recently the man from Lapeyre was right outside and still confused. So a name would help. It's a 2 bed bungalow so nothing grand would suit, there is a wonderful view.

Mrs Trellis
Something to think about, thanks for comments. We dismissed 'Duntiling' 'fin de Bricolage' les quatre chats (bound to lose or gain one), chat chateau, We have walnuts trees but somehow The Nuts doesn't work.As we are dwarfed by the pilgrim gite above, maybe 'Pas le Gite'. That is signposted but we still had someone yesterday looking for the owner, not seeming to realise they run the gite. Don't want to upset the owner though, especially as he gave us a bottle of champagne for the 'nuisance' of their building work.
