woolybanana
Pensions reform is a red hot issue in France at the moment, particularly that of the fonctionnaires who have much better pensions and retirement ages than anyone else. Yesterday's proposals to modify their gravy train are causing anger already, though not amongst the general population, one suspects. Has Hollande, himself a civil servant by profession, got the guts to face them down? Given that most of his government is from the public sector, never having sullied their hands with real work, there must be huge doubts as to their ability to sort the problem.Yet, if they do not, France and the whole Euro project could still go downn the pan.http://www.lefigaro.fr/conjoncture/2013/06/05/20002-20130605ARTFIG00319-retraites-des-fonctionnaires-un-casus-belli-avertit-la-cgt.php(gllgle translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lefigaro.fr%2Fconjoncture%2F2013%2F06%2F05%2F20002-20130605ARTFIG00319-retraites-des-fonctionnaires-un-casus-belli-avertit-la-cgt.php )By the way, all pensioners are going to end up paying more tax in one way or another!! idun
We saw this on the news last night and I have to say that for all we knew that they got good pensions, those in the french civil service. These figures still really shocked us. Wages in France with the ancienneté are all tordu anyway. The whole system needs looking at from start to finish.
