woolybanana
It seems that European, frozen chicken exporters have been receiving a nice little backhander when exporting frozen chickens, from Brussels, and France was the almost the only beneficiary. It amounted to a cool €53.36 million in 2012/13. Of course they are cross at having this nice little bit of pocket money taken away, but then, they would wonldn't they.Well done Brussels, for once.http://www.lemonde.fr/economie/article/2013/07/19/les-volaillers-bretons-protestent-contre-la-fin-des-aides-europeennes_3449969_3234.htmland for the dedicated, here is the translation:http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lemonde.fr%2Feconomie%2Farticle%2F2013%2F07%2F19%2Fles-volaillers-bretons-protestent-contre-la-fin-des-aides-europeennes_3449969_3234.html
nomoss
Be fair! French farmers are only getting 93% of the total subsidy [:(] Edit: The subsidies are to be reduced by 50%, not removed as the rag says.

woolybanana
It is only the subsidy on frozen exports that is being removed.

Benjamin
I'ts like the subsides paid to Greek tobacco growers until someone in Brussels woke up and realised the EU was trying to dissuade people from smoking.
