Evianers
Now Sotherby's in the UK has an enviable reputation for [mostly] unblemished and first-class dealings. However, we have a branch [probably a franchise] of Sotherby's Real Estate agency here in Evian-les-Bains.The owner, if that is what he is, already has a reputation for being arrogant and aggressive, but upon asking whether a certain apartment in which we might be interested was situated on a main road, his answer was "calme absolut". Now that to us meant no noise. So what do we find? The railway line passes right in front of the property, with the first commuter train to Geneva passing ca. 05.20. That's "Calme absolut"? Wonder what Sotherby's Head Office in UK would think about that? Also wonder what his idea of noisy would be!!

PaulT
Yes, if a French estate agent told you that you were alive it would be safer to get a second opinion. As the saying goes, there are lies, damn lies and French estate agents
